Day 06 · Week 01 · What Is a Tactic?

Integration Training

Combine Day 01–05 into one decision process so the student stops treating tactics as separate tricks.

Integration means using one thinking system rather than remembering five disconnected lessons. First assess whether the position contains a tactical trigger. Then scan checks, captures and threats. Then calculate the opponent's strongest response. If no forcing line works, return to strategic questions.

The purpose of integration training is not harder combinations; it is correct ordering. Many blunders happen because the player begins calculating a random move before understanding what the position is asking.

Today every exercise must begin with a spoken or written diagnosis: 'trigger / no trigger', then candidate list, then line.

Training flow: 1. Warm-up recall of the Day 01–05 checklist. 2. 4 guided boards with the full verbal protocol. 3. 4 independent mixed positions. 4. 1 no-tactic position requiring a strategic choice. 5. 1 defensive position where opponent CCT takes priority.

Common errors: Skipping the trigger diagnosis. Calculating one candidate only. Stopping after the first acceptable move. Forcing tactics in a quiet position.

Mastery gate: At least 8/10 correct; protocol must be complete on the last five positions.

Review: Write the personal pre-move checklist in no more than six lines.
