Month 1 Examination & Project

The Month 1 examination measures the training completed here; it is not a chess rating and not a title. The exam should test recognition, calculation, defense and restraint. A correct quiet move is as important as a flashy tactic when the position demands it.

The project converts results into a personal operating rule: what triggers you miss, what calculation errors repeat, and what final blunder check you will use.

Training flow: 1. Part A: 5 recognition/classification positions. 2. Part B: 10 calculation positions. 3. Part C: 5 defensive/no-tactic positions. 4. Part D: written error audit. 5. Part E: retest three missed themes after review.

Common errors: Guessing motif from appearance. Using hints during test. Ignoring best defense. Treating score as a rating.

Mastery gate: Recommended pass: 16/20 plus no more than one UNSAFE_MOVE in final 10. If not passed, assign targeted remediation and retest; do not block access to free learning content.

Review: Project output: six-line personal tactical checklist + top three error categories + next-month calculation goal.
